Jamaican dancehall sensation Konshens is at it again, remixing yet another track in a matter of days. Just seven sunsets after the release of “Want Money,” his collaboration with Pius Mayanja, popularly known as Pallaso from Team Good Music, Konshens is responding to singer Jose Chameleone’s musical SOS. The Jamaican artist is adding his flair to the remix of “Banana,” a track originally featuring Fik Gaza.
It appears that Konshens caught the Ugandan music bug during his electrifying performance late last year, and he’s showing no signs of shaking it off. Responding to Chameleone’s call for a verse on the already catchy “Banana,” Konshens, in his distinctive patois style, took to social media, saying, “My dawg @JChameleone song a run east Africa an him she him need a verse. Mi she right now, dat easy.”
However, the intriguing twist in the story comes with Konshens playfully questioning the identity of Fik Gaza. In a cryptic post, he urged, “Will the real FIK GAZA please stand up!! #whoisfikgaza the world needs to know now.” It seems there’s a mysterious aura surrounding this artist that Konshens is eager to unravel.
Opening the remix, Konshens brings his signature style, setting the stage for Chameleone’s eclectic mix of English, Swahili, Luganda, and a dash of patois. The collaborative effort aims to broaden the appeal of the already popular track, with Gaza maintaining his energetic vibe as he playfully croons the chorus. The verses, a linguistic rollercoaster, showcase the artists seamlessly switching between four dialects.
As Konshens continues to weave his musical magic in Uganda, one wonders which Mayanja brother will be the next recipient of his remix wizardry. The Jamaican artist seems to have found a home in the heart of East Africa’s vibrant music scene.
