An 18-year-old, Charles Tayebwa, a resident of Rwamacumu cell, Kamuganguzi Sub-County in Kabale District, was laid to rest today after succumbing to injuries sustained in a tragic landslide.
Tayebwa, the son of Aggrey Rukundo, perished alongside a Rwandan national identified only as Bosco. The landslide struck their home early yesterday morning, burying them beneath the rubble.
Mourners, led by Rukundo, remembered Tayebwa as a humble and hardworking young man, both in his studies and other endeavors. The Minister of State for Industries and Ndorwa West Member of Parliament, in a condolence message read by Kamuganguzi Sub-County Chairperson Elias Twesigomwe, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of such a promising young life.
Meanwhile, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate informed our reporter that the body of the Rwandan national, Bosco, remains at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital as local authorities work to locate his relatives in Rwanda.
