Over 100 Lango Cultural Institution clan heads are fully prepared for the fundraising dinner for Eng. Dr. Odongo Okune’s coronation, which will take place in Kampala on August 31, 2024.
The coronation of the Won Nyaci Elect is slated for November 2, 2024, with successful efforts from high-profile Lango sons and daughters based in Kampala and other parts of Uganda.
His Highness Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, the Won Nyaci-elect of the Lango Cultural Institution, has at all times called for unity and reconciliation. Geoffrey Etwop of the Ober clan has earlier on said they are more than ready for the coronation of Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune on November 2, 2024.
The Speaker of the Lango Cultural Institution, Willy Omodo Omodo, has called upon the people of Lango to wholeheartedly support the activities outlined in the ongoing roadmap for the coronation of the Won Nyaci-elect, His Highness Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune.
The coronation is scheduled to take place at Mayor’s Garden in Lira City on November 2, 2024, with over 50,000 people expected to attend. Omodo also expects over 5,000 guests from the Lango sub-region, across Uganda, and from the Diaspora to grace the colorful coronation of the Won Nyaci-elect, Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune.
On March 1, 2024, close to 140 clan chiefs (owitong) and more than 1,600 delegates accompanied the various clan heads from the nine districts in the Lango sub-region, including Lira City, to Akii Bua Stadium in Lira City, where Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune was elected as the new Paramount Chief (Won Nyaci-elect) of the Lango Cultural Institution. The well-attended ceremony instilled confidence in the upcoming cultural leadership of the Lango Cultural Institution under the leadership of His Highness Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune.
However, much interest has arisen as the fundraising dinner scheduled for August 31, 2024, has attracted high-profile individuals from around the country, including Hon. Government Chief Whip/MP Denis Hamson Obua and Kole MP Dr. Opio Acuti, who are pivotal in mobilizing the 2.8 billion UGX yet to be allocated for the coronation budget to ensure its success.
Information confirmed by our reporter from the Speaker of the Lango Cultural Institution (Won Tok), Willy Omodo Omodo, indicates that many people at various levels have already shown interest in supporting the coronation roadmap, with many contributing towards the November 2, 2024 event. Omodo encouraged everyone to wholeheartedly support the program by contributing either in cash or in kind.
