Lango Cultural Institution Paramount Chief, His Highness Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, offered 500,000 UGX on Saturday to help save the life of six-month-old Baby Jasmin, who is suffering from a heart disease.
The parents of Baby Jasmin are receiving support from various community members across Lango sub-region to raise funds, as their child was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. They have managed to raise 10 million UGX by selling their domestic animals, but the treatment costs have escalated to 60 million UGX. In response, well-wishers, including His Highness Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, have stepped in to provide additional financial assistance.
The Won Nyaci-elect of Lango Cultural Institution, His Highness Eng. Dr. Moses Michael Odongo Okune, personally donated 500,000 shillings towards Baby Jasmin’s medical bills in India.
“As the Won Nyaci-elect of Lango Cultural Institution, I am contributing 500,000 shillings to support Baby Jasmin’s medical expenses in India,” said Okune.
“Saves Baby Jasmin” is the slogan for the fundraising campaign. The six-month-old girl has a grace period of six months to undergo surgery in India. However, as of Saturday evening, only 10 million UGX had been raised, according to Deo Okanagan, the father of the child.
“Please donate, no matter how small,” pleaded Deo.
The parents reside in Omito Ward, Lira City West Division. Deo, the father, works as a nurse in Oyam District.
The total cost for Baby Jasmin’s treatment in India is 60 million UGX, following her recent diagnosis of congenital heart disease, as confirmed by her parents. Initially, Deo had only 10 million shillings. However, during Q FM’s 12th Anniversary celebration held on Saturday at Lira Town College playground, the contributions likely increased to close to 11 million shillings, thanks to generous donations from attendees.
