There was jubilation as the Paramount Chief of the Lango Cultural Foundation, Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii, presided over the launch of a new office for his Prime Minister of the Lango Cultural Foundation on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Senior Quarters B, Lira City East Division, Lira City.
The Paramount Chief stated that people should vote for H.E. Gen. Yoweri Museveni Kaguta in the 2026 general election because his government has really considered the elderly by paying them monthly through the SAGE program, hence, the elderly are earning. He praised Museveni for introducing Skilling Hubs, which are now helping vulnerable youth acquire skills.
“People should elect MPs and LCV chairpersons who are capable and hardworking,” said Yosam Odur. He added that many people say, “Odur, you continue working,” and that he once supported someone thinking he was nurturing a human being, but he raised a very useless and problematic person.
Counsel Felix Adupa Ongwec, the Minister of ICT who hails from the Oumo Lao clan, said he made a tremendous effort to set up the office for the Prime Minister and cabinet of the Lango Cultural Foundation.
Lawrence Lorry Ocen, the Speaker of the Lango Cultural Foundation, while addressing hundreds of people before the Won Nyaci, commended him for doing a lot for the Lango tribe.
Among the cabinet members present were: Ongom Akwat Aber, advisor to Won Nyaci; Ojok Okello Paul of the Olaka Clan; Prime Minister Ogwal Oyee Frederick; Francis Abaca of the Wibye Acel Clan; Peter Owera; Shaban Alunga of Okii Raki; Abaca Francis Gilgori; Bruno Okwel from Adeknino; Tom Anang Odur of the Araki Clan from Kwania; Levi Okodi Mac Pio; Yovan Ogwang; Anthony Odur, Olobo Clan head of Omwon Pel; and others.
Lawrence Lorry explained that the office is different from the cultural center because it now provides facilities for conducting official ceremonies in a larger space and away from the business center. The office space is wide enough for conducting meetings of clan heads and developing action plans for all the cultural cabinet ministers.
On behalf of the different clan heads, Shaban said, “Forward ever, backward never is the way to go.” He commended his fellow Owitong (clan heads) for the unity they have exhibited in the Lango Cultural Foundation chiefdom.
Prime Minister Fred Ogwal Oyee called upon members of the public to make proper use of the new office, adding that they will soon do something meaningful for the people of the Lango tribe. “Let us allow Lango to move forward, because we have known that some people are living in problems for untold reasons in Lango,” said Ogwal Oyee.
He stated that Lango needs divine intervention, for example, because some witchdoctors from Butaleza are causing untold suffering and death in the Lango sub-region.
Since 2003, Lango has never had an organized office of such kind as the one commissioned by Yosam Ebii on Saturday.
