LIRA, Uganda — The Lango Cultural Foundation electoral team has announced that they are ready to conduct the election for the new Won Nyaci on Friday, October 11, 2024. This election will determine the successor to Paramount Chief Yosam Odur Ebii.
Among the four candidates contesting in the election are Dr. Dan Okello of the Guna clan, Benjamin Okii of the Okii-Bura clan, Dr. Richard Nam of the Okii-Amat clan, and Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okullu of the Palacol clan.
In a speech on Wednesday morning, Zaramogi Patrick Okwir, a member of the Lango Cultural Foundation Electoral Commission, stated that all preparations are in place to conduct a free and fair election for the Won Nyaci.
He urged the Lango community to participate in the election and emphasized that no one will obstruct the process. The winner of the election will be announced on Friday evening.
