Sheikh Abdul Khaliq Bashir has issued a strong warning against the dangers of divisionist politics rooted in religion.

Speaking at the Nikkah ceremony of popular radio caller Hamuza Jungu, also known as Hamuza Rwakaraba, and his wife Saidat Natukunda, Sheikh Bashir emphasized the importance of electing leaders with vision and progressive ideas for the community, rather than choosing candidates based solely on religious affiliation.

He pointed out that voting based only on religion has led to the election of weak leaders who are unable to effectively represent their constituents’ interests. Sheikh Bashir encouraged the public to prioritize leaders who can drive development and progress.

Kabale district parliamentary aspirant Grace Ankunda Bwesigye echoed Sheikh Bashir’s sentiments, highlighting that a true leader should serve all people, regardless of their religious background.

She also advised the newlywed couple to raise their children to love and cherish their faith, which will contribute to the growth and spread of Islam.

Additionally, Grace Ankunda Bwesigye warned against religious divisions ahead of the NRM primaries, urging the public to support leaders based on their ideas and visions, rather than their religious affiliations.
