Okidi Patrick, Lira District – UPC heavyweight Hon. Adem Morris Okello, currently serving as Lira District Speaker, has vowed to contest for the position of Lira District Chairman, possibly replacing the incumbent Lira District LCV Chairman, RCM Okello Orik, in the 2026 general election.
The Speaker of Lira District Council, Hon. Adem Morris Okello, publicly expressed his political ambitions for the prestigious position, promising a quick victory ahead of the 2026 general elections. He addressed the media from his office at the Lira District Chamber building on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
“I am contesting unless otherwise because it is now or never,” said Okello Adem.
In a related development, he added, “It is from the invitation from members of the public in Lira District who requested me to stand for the elective position of LCV Chairman, Lira District Local Government, without fear or favor.”
He urged the public to vote for him when the time comes, emphasizing that while he has a single vote, the community’s collective votes will lead him to victory. Key issues on his agenda include development, health, education, and road network improvement, among others.
Hon. Morris Okello Adem congratulated the people of Lira District and assured them that nothing shall prevent them from crossing the bridge when they get there in 2026.
Speaker Adem will be competing with other candidates from various political parties who are yet to publicly declare their interests in the LCV seat for the 2026 general election.
