LIST: IGP Byakagaba Shakes Up Uganda Police with Key Senior Appointments

Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Abbas Byakagaba has reshuffled police bosses

The Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, has announced a series of strategic transfers and appointments within the Uganda Police Force, aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the service. The changes, which include deployments to key diplomatic missions and directorates, demonstrate the force’s commitment to leveraging experienced officers for critical roles.

In the latest reshuffle, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Musana Geoffrey has been transferred from the Directorate of Welfare, Production, and Sports to the Ugandan Embassy in South Sudan, where he will serve as the Police Attaché. His predecessor, Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Sakira Moses, returns to Uganda to take up the role of Deputy Director in the Directorate of Research and Planning.




SCP Halango Timothy, previously with the Directorate of Research and Planning, has been assigned to the Directorate of Welfare, Production, and Sports as Deputy Director. Similarly, Commissioner of Police (CP) Mubangizi Ben moves from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety to Algeria, where he will serve as the Police Attaché.




Notable changes within local postings include CP Ssebambulidde Charles, who transitions from the Agriculture Police to the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering as Acting Deputy Director for Classified Stores. Meanwhile, CP Acaye Philip shifts from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety to lead the Agriculture Police as Commandant.




Another key appointment is that of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Musinga Norman, who moves from his role as Regional Police Commander (RPC) Busoga East to the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety as Acting Deputy Director.

The Uganda Police Force has expressed its confidence in the officers and extended its congratulations to them on their new roles. These appointments are expected to bring renewed vigor to the respective departments and diplomatic engagements, furthering the force’s mission to uphold law and order both domestically and internationally.
