Soroti District – Peter Ebau, the LC3 Chairperson of Awaliwal Sub-county, has urged families to avoid excessive burial expenses that could lead to financial strain.

Ebau advised burial organizing committees to draft realistic budgets, focusing only on essential costs for the day, rather than inflating expenditures unnecessarily. He emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable families from falling into financial hardship due to extravagant burial practices.

In a related development, Paul Omer, the Mayor of Soroti City East and a strong FDC mobilizer in the Teso sub-region, has publicly commended Captain Mike Mukula for his leadership and significant contributions to the development of Teso.

Omer specifically praised Mukula for supporting him in the fight against land grabbers who attempted to take over the Soroti Golf Club, a group reportedly led by Calvin Echodu.

Despite their political differences, Omer described Mukula as the most effective leader for the Teso sub-region, citing his strong track record in service delivery. He urged the people of Teso to continue rallying behind Mukula, noting that his name should “remain at the top of the game.”

This praise was delivered during the burial ceremony of Edward Eyalu in Aloet Ward.
