Eng. Raymond Luwita’s consultation bid for the 2026 parliamentary seat continues to gain momentum as he tours Aringa, Lakoga, Par Wech, and Te-Okutu in Tenam Sub County.
The area LC1 of Dog-lamece Ogwang Alfred, welcomed Luwita’s visit and expressed confidence that he would secure 99 percent of the vote. He likened campaigning in Tenam to “campaigning in the home of a stepmother,” since the incumbent, Christopher Komakech, comes from the area.
Ojok Abwang Micheal, youth chairperson for Lakoga Parish, said locals are firmly behind Luwita, emphasizing they would vote based on capability, not personal ties, in the 2026 general elections. Residents expressed positivity and readiness for a strong campaign.
According to general secretary Charles Odoch, they requested campaign materials (tags, t-shirts, stickers), a coordination office, a second round of consultations, and Luwita’s presence at community events, among others. Onama Phillip voiced optimism that Luwita’s character will carry him through the NRM primaries.
In his remarks, Luwita praised the team for their resilience despite the incumbent’s roots in the area. He vowed to defeat Komakech on his home ground and announced plans to establish a grassroots campaign structure.
Using a metaphor, Luwita said, “A beloved pet cat cannot be used to plough like a bull. You may love someone, but leadership needs capability,” suggesting the incumbent is not fit to lead, despite his popularity. He urged voters to be vigilant and demand accountability from leaders who have served with some for nearly 20 years.
Luwita is expected to hand over his office this week after receiving early retirement, having been cleared of any wrongdoing during his time as Amuru District Engineer. He will compete in the NRM primaries this July against Christopher Komakech, who joined the party after winning as an independent in 2021.
Former MP Samuel Odonga Otto, who represented Aruu County for about 20 years, is also expected to return in the 2026 general election, though he has not yet disclosed the party on which he will contest.
