Speaking to this website, Dr. Barigye commended his family and his wife, Mrs. Ruth Birungi, for showing resilience during difficult times. He adds that he is grateful to his dear wife, Mrs. Ruth, who has stood by his side when he needed her most.
He also thanked his Ministry of Health bosses for their support and encouraged people to seek solace in God, while appreciating men and women of God for keeping him in their prayers. Regarding the social media stories circulating, he described them as malicious and encouraged social media users to use their platforms productively. He also encouraged the MRRH community to disregard any unsolicited talks and continue working with the administration to achieve higher goals and uphold their vision, mission, and institutional core values.
Asked about the current situation, Dr. Barigye said that there’s been great improvement, adding that with the support of doctors and friends, he will soon resume his duties in the coming months. Dr. Barigye is the current Director of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, the institution he has led to explore greater heights. Under his administration, he has passionately advocated for better healthcare services in the region through constant lobbying.
On several occasions, he has spoken passionately about elevating Mbarara RRH to a national referral hospital. The hospital is currently the only regional referral hospital offering specialized and super-specialized services.
