Robert Kyagulanyi’s bodyguard, Onzima, popularly known as High Tower, has reportedly returned to Uganda after spending months in hiding.
As earlier reported, High Tower had gone underground following allegations that he attacked a police patrol vehicle along the Lira–Alebtong road during the election campaign period. Police claim that during the incident, a tyre on the patrol car was deflated and signal jammers allegedly being used by security officers were taken.
According to police reports, Onzima is also accused of fleeing with a computer and other police property. Following these allegations, his Mark II Toyota vehicle was confiscated by authorities, prompting him to leave the country.
Sources say High Tower crossed into Kenya, where he stayed in hiding as he awaited the outcome of the presidential elections, reportedly hoping that Kyagulanyi would win. However, after the election did not go in his favour, life in exile allegedly became difficult.
It is now reported that the bodyguard quietly returned to Kampala, choosing to face whatever lies ahead rather than continue living as a refugee.
Neither the police nor the National Unity Platform has officially commented on his reported return by press time.
