Kampala, Uganda – Sociopolitical analyst Frank Gashumba has criticized the opposition political group, the National Unity Platform (NUP), questioning their ability to govern the nation if they cannot even manage a simple burial properly.

His comments came after the chaos that unfolded during the recent funeral of Kawempe North MP, Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, in Kadugala, Masaka.

The burial was marred by a significant lack of decorum and organization, with NUP members at the center of the disarray. Gashumba expressed that the disorder did not surprise him, as he believes it reflects the typical behavior of the party’s leaders.

He went on to argue that individuals who cannot even handle basic responsibilities, like possessing a needle or a razor blade, would create widespread chaos if they were in power, even for just half an hour. Gashumba also questioned Bobi Wine’s authority to call Ssegirinya’s mother an “idiot” when she requested a dignified farewell for her son, as arranged by Parliament.

He pointed out that party supporters, whom he referred to as “fool soldiers,” even assaulted Ssegirinya’s siblings and denied the family the opportunity to speak during the funeral.

“For those who were shocked by NUP’s behavior at the funeral, they should understand that this is their true nature. They are led by individuals who lack civility, and it’s clear that they would cause even more chaos if they were in power for just 30 minutes. Imagine people who can’t even handle a needle or a razor blade gaining access to power and weaponry.

They are like pigs, as only a pig would consume its own young. They can’t even organize a decent farewell for their colleague! What happened there was simply appalling. Imagine Bobi Wine having the audacity to call Ssegirinya’s mother an idiot for asking that her son be buried according to Parliament’s schedule,” Gashumba stated.

Additionally, Gashumba highlighted the inappropriate items offered at the burial, including marijuana, alcohol, ginseng (Mulondo), and pork, which violated Ssegirinya’s Islamic customs.

He also noted that Bobi Wine benefits from such rowdy behavior, as it keeps him in the public eye. Gashumba criticized Wine’s silence regarding the misconduct of his supporters, particularly Lumbuye, who has repeatedly insulted officials, including those from the Buganda Kingdom. Gashumba further remarked that three notable gangs have emerged in the nation, all linked to Pallaso, Alien Skin, and Bobi Wine.
