Unverified reports indicate that NBS TV, a station located in Naguru, has purportedly suspended one of its prominent presenters, Zambali Bulasio Mukasa.
This action is allegedly tied to his connections with Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, and his National Unity Platform (NUP).
Zambali recently declared his ambition to run for a parliamentary seat in Nansana Municipality under the NUP banner.
He has also participated in NUP campaign events, actively supporting Counsel Elias Nalukoola Luyimbazi during the Kawempe North by-election.
While addressing the crowd at one of these rallies, Zambali stated that in moments of oppression, remaining neutral equates to siding with the oppressor. Therefore, he has opted to stand firm in support of his beliefs.
Reports suggest that Zambali has faced suspension from his supervisors at Naguru. In fact, he was absent from last night’s Barometer Show, which was instead hosted by fellow presenter Adam Kungu.
This situation has sparked public concern over perceived unfair treatment, especially given that another colleague, Victoria Bagaya, is also seeking a political position.
Victoria, an English news anchor, has announced her intention to contest for the Woman MP seat for Fort Portal Tourism City as a candidate for the NRM. However, online commentators have noted the lack of any consequences faced by her in this regard. In her defense, she mentioned that Next Media has established company policies that all employees are expected to adhere to.
This isn’t the first instance of Zambali facing challenges during his tenure at the TV station. In 2023, he was suspended after publicly praising Bobi Wine at a concert by King Saha.
He reportedly received a formal warning letter and later had a confrontation with MP David Kabanda, a supporter of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, resulting in a second suspension.
It remains uncertain whether he will navigate this current predicament or continue to pursue an active political career.
