Kapchorwa, Sebei Region – Hon. Fadil Twala, Member of Parliament for Tingenyi County in Sebei Region, has issued a stern press release accusing Dr. Monica Musenero, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, of actively undermining a critical Presidential directive and jeopardizing a transformative development project in the region.
Twala specifically names Minister Musenero as the individual working to derail the TRIDI Sericulture Project, a major economic initiative he describes as a “transformative gateway” for Sebei’s future. The MP claims that Musenero’s actions contradict the vision set forth by President Museveni for industrial development in Sebei, a vision that was formally presented in a memorandum during the President’s recent visit to the region. According to Twala, these actions represent a direct challenge to the President’s authority and plans for national development.
The MP underscores the immense significance of the TRIDI project, emphasizing that the factory is the first modern industrial facility ever established in Sebei. He stresses that the TRIDI factory not only symbolizes the region’s industrial awakening but also lays the groundwork for future development, proving that Sebei has the potential to compete in modern industries.
Twala points out that the project has successfully transformed previously “impossible” land into productive agricultural areas. With the introduction of modern irrigation systems and land management techniques, the project has significantly increased property values and brought previously unused land into full productive use.
Beyond its industrial promise, Twala highlights the far-reaching social and economic impacts of the TRIDI Sericulture Project. It has created employment opportunities, particularly for women, and provided skills development for local residents. The project has helped reduce youth migration to urban areas by offering stable, income-generating jobs at home.

Twala also notes the ripple effect the project has had on the local economy. With the rise of new businesses, increased investment interest, and the development of infrastructure—including electricity, water, roads, and improved connectivity—the TRIDI initiative is fueling economic growth in Sebei like never before.
In light of the situation, Twala is calling for urgent action from President Museveni. He is demanding that the President take disciplinary measures against Minister Musenero for undermining the Presidential directive and the TRIDI project. Twala also calls for an investigation into Musenero’s alleged efforts to mobilize local leaders against the government-supported project.
Furthermore, Twala insists on the immediate release of funds allocated to the project, additional security for the TRIDI facility, and the fast-tracking of necessary infrastructure development to support its success.
In his press release, Twala appeals directly to the people of Sebei, urging them to stand united in support of the TRIDI Sericulture Project. He emphasizes that this project represents not just an economic opportunity, but the region’s future and pathway to prosperity. The MP warns that any attempt to derail the project, regardless of who is behind it, poses a threat to the future of Sebei and its people.
“This project is too important to be jeopardized. It’s not just about the future of Sebei, but the future of every person in this region,” said Twala. “We must come together to ensure this transformative opportunity is not lost.”
