Respected city preacher and lead pastor of the World Trumpet Mission Ministries, Pastor John Mulinde, is reportedly facing growing resistance from church elders and followers over his plans to marry a significantly younger woman from within his congregation.
According to credible sources close to the church, Pastor Mulinde had been quietly involved in a romantic relationship with a young female church member for several months. However, when he recently decided to make the relationship public and announced intentions to formalize the union, the move was met with sharp disapproval.
Church elders and senior members expressed concern over the woman’s reputation, with some alleging she is romantically linked to several men — a factor they believe is incompatible with the moral standards expected of a spouse to a senior pastor. The elders reportedly described the decision as a “shameful move” that could damage both Mulinde’s personal image and the credibility of the ministry he has built over the years.
Reports further indicate that Pastor Mulinde and the said lady have been taking private trips abroad together, raising eyebrows within the congregation. Sources reveal he was even planning an introduction ceremony in the near future.
The elders, alarmed by the developments, are said to have sought the intervention of fellow senior clergyman Pastor Joseph Sserwadda, urging him to counsel Pastor Mulinde before any permanent steps are taken. There are concerns that the marriage may be driven more by emotion and infatuation than spiritual or moral discernment.
Some church members have also drawn parallels with past high-profile relationships that ended in scandal, cautioning that Pastor Mulinde could be vulnerable to manipulation due to his wealth and stature. “We’ve seen this before — young women chasing status or wealth, not love,” one elder was quoted saying, referencing previous public breakups involving high-profile figures.
This isn’t the first time Pastor Mulinde’s personal life has made headlines. Years ago, he reportedly separated from his late wife Prosy Mulinde under unclear circumstances. He later entered a relationship with a Kampala socialite, Jasmine Sheila, but the union also ended abruptly amid rumors of infidelity involving a much younger man named Jeff Mugisha, based in Ntinda.
With growing pressure from within the church and renewed public scrutiny, it remains to be seen whether Pastor Mulinde will proceed with the controversial relationship or yield to the calls for reconsideration from his spiritual circle.
