The United States Embassy in Uganda has officially opened the newly relocated American Center Kampala, creating a modern space designed to support learning, innovation, and cultural exchange.

The center was inaugurated by U.S. Ambassador William Popp, who said it reflects the long-standing partnership between the United States and Uganda, especially in empowering young people. He noted that the facility is meant to be open, practical, and useful to the community.

The American Center offers free access to a well-stocked library, a computer lab, high-speed Wi-Fi, and new technologies such as 3D printing. It also runs skills-building programs focused on entrepreneurship, workforce readiness, leadership, and digital literacy. These programs mainly target youth, students, creatives, and small business owners.

According to the embassy, more than 8,000 Ugandans used the American Center in the past year alone. Hundreds of participants completed training programs aimed at improving job skills and leadership capacity.

The opening comes as the United States marks America250, a nationwide commemoration of 250 years of U.S. independence. Embassy officials say the milestone highlights shared democratic values and people-to-people connections between the two countries.

The new American Center Kampala is located at Embassy Plaza on Ggaba Road. It is open to the public from Monday to Saturday, with all services offered free of charge.

The embassy says the center is expected to play a key role in supporting innovation, learning, and collaboration in Uganda for years to come.
