As the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit approaches in Kampala, Uganda, North African nations Algeria and Morocco have officially confirmed their participation. Both countries are set to send high-level delegates, with the possibility of their respective presidents attending the summit, scheduled to take place from January 15 to January 20 at the Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo.
Under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” the NAM Summit is expected to gather officials from various member states, observers, and organizations. The Kingdom of Morocco will be represented by Ambassador Omar Hilale, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Zakaria El Goumiri, Morocco’s Ambassador-designate to Uganda.
Algeria, a significant player in NAM, is sending President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Foreign Affairs Minister Armed Attaf, along with accompanying delegations. Algeria’s participation underscores its crucial role within the NAM community.
The NAM, comprising 120 member states, 18 observer countries, and 10 observer organizations, will precede the G77 summit immediately afterward.
With the summit days away, preparations are in full swing at the Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo. Workers are diligently applying finishing touches to the venue, anticipating the arrival of delegates who will soon convene for impactful discussions during the summit.
