By Steven Ariong, Moroto – The World Bank-funded projects in Moroto have been rated as the best, with Moroto Municipality Mayor Mr. Ismail Mohamed saying they will improve revenue collection for the Moroto municipality.

The World Bank, through USMID, has constructed two streets in Moroto and installed street lights that have brought Moroto municipality to look like other municipalities in other parts of the county.

On Monday, a team from the Ministry of Lands led by a commissioner hailed the work, saying they would continue to lobby for more resources to be allocated in Moroto.

The 5.9 billion shilling streets and lights, however, have excited locals and traders who are now operating their businesses until late hours.

Grace Akello, one of the traders, said they no longer sell their merchandise with torches ever since the street lights were constructed.

“We are so happy with the government of Uganda for this because Moroto used not to look like a municipality, but now it’s shining,” she said.

Mr. Ismail Mohamed, the mayor of Moroto Municipality, thanks the President of the Republic of Uganda for supporting development activities in Moroto and Karamoja at large.
