Honoranta Nakato, a 49-year-old woman who gave birth to quintuplets at the Women’s Hospital International and Fertility Centre in Bukoto in 2018, has sadly passed away.

According to Gertrude Nakiguddu, Nakato’s older sister, Nakato, who used to live in Kyanika parish, Kabira sub-county in Kyotera district, began experiencing symptoms of malaria and fever on September 22. She was initially taken to a private health facility in Kalisizo, but her condition did not improve.

As a result, healthcare workers referred Nakato to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, where she was admitted for one night. However, her health continued to deteriorate, and she developed breathing difficulties, necessitating intensive care services, as reported by Nakiguddu.

On September 25, Nakato was transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where she was immediately taken to the Uganda Heart Institute for heart examinations. Nakiguddu explained that Nakato had low blood pressure and a failing heart.

Subsequently, she was moved to the specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital at Mulago and admitted to the intensive care unit. Sadly, on October 1, at 3:00 p.m., she passed away.

At the time of her demise, Nakato was employed as a teacher at St. Mary’s Sanje Secondary School in Kyotera district.
