His vision, he says, is to ensure that the investment surpasses previous standards.
“I have invested in a world-class facility that is far much better than what was there before,” stated Kiggundu, emphasizing his dedication to excellence in the project.

On June 1, Hamz Stadium will be the center of attention, attracting crowds from all directions for a grand celebration of sports and entertainment. Gates will open at 9 am to welcome enthusiasts for a day filled with various events.
Football enthusiasts can look forward to two test matches featuring URA FC versus Kitara FC during the day and Express FC versus SC Villa under the stadium’s floodlights. Additionally, boxing and kickboxing matches will thrill spectators, with prominent athletes such as Isaac ‘Zebra’ Ssenyange Jr, Abbas Sseguya, Moses Golola, and Umaru Semata showcasing their skills.
Basketball and netball matches will also be on the schedule, offering fans a diverse range of sporting entertainment. Alongside the sports events, leading Ugandan musicians, including Jose Chameleone, Rema Namakula, Bebe Cool, and A Pass, will grace the stage with electrifying performances.
President Museveni commended Hamis Kiggundu for his innovative approach in transforming Nakivubo Stadium, acknowledging the businessman’s vision and determination in executing the project.
“When he [Kiggundu] came up with this idea, in my bushwar ways of doing things, I quickly understood him because we bushwar fighters don’t take long to understand things. If you take a long time to make a decision you die,” remarked Museveni.
The Nakivubo Stadium, a nearly-century-old facility, has undergone significant renovations since its establishment in 1926. With Hamz Stadium’s revamped infrastructure, including executive boxes, VIP and ordinary seating, retractable courts, and modern amenities such as a gym and restaurants, Nakivubo enters a new era of sports and entertainment.
