The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Contingent operating under the East African Regional Force (EACRF) has introduced its new deputy Contingent Commander, Lt. Col. Frank Tumwesigye. The formal handover ceremony took place at the EACRF headquarters, situated in Niongera Kiwanja of the Rutshuru territory in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Tuesday.

Colonel Michael Walaka Hyeroba, the incumbent Contingent Commander, extended a warm welcome to his newly appointed deputy and emphasized the importance of collaborative teamwork within their troops.

“As UGACON’s family, I urge you all to cooperate with my deputy so that we work together as a team to accomplish our mandate as required by EACRF,” Col. Hyeroba emphasized, underlining the significance of unity and cooperation in their mission.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this role, Lt. Col. Frank Tumwesigye acknowledged the UPDF leadership for his appointment within the EACRF framework. He pledged to work closely with all EACRF Forces to fulfill the mandates assigned to the organization.

This appointment marks a change in leadership within the UPDF Contingent as Lt. Col. Frank Tumwesigye assumes the role of Deputy Contingent Commander, succeeding Lt. Col. Henry Kakuru Tukwasibwe in this vital position.
