The Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Muwada Nkunyingi, expressed his concerns about the use of taxpayers’ money in sending a large delegation to represent Uganda at the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York. He plans to address this issue when parliament reconvenes next week and intends to request an explanation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding their guidance on the delegation.

The meeting, which began on September 18th, saw over 70 individuals from Uganda sent as part of the delegation. Muwada pointed out that while these expenses were covered by taxpayers, there are several Ugandans stranded in countries such as Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Saudi Arabia, and there appears to be insufficient effort to assist them. Muwada shared his concerns with journalists at the parliament.
