A delegation comprising officers from the Uganda Police Force has reached Moshi, Tanzania, to participate in a one-week Field Training Exercise (FTX), as part of the 4th Edition of the Eastern African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO). The exercise involves collaboration with 14 other member countries, aiming to enhance regional cooperation and interoperability among law enforcement agencies.
The Ugandan team is composed of officers from various units, including Counter Terrorism, Field Force Unit, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), General Duty, and the Public Relations Department. Their participation underscores Uganda’s commitment to regional security initiatives and the strengthening of partnerships within the Eastern African region.
Heading the Ugandan delegation as Chief Evaluator is CP Ziwedde Abu Baker from the Directorate of Engineering and Logistics. His role involves overseeing the evaluation process during the training exercise, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices in law enforcement operations.
In other news within the Uganda Police Force, Director AIGP Tom Magambo has communicated to President H.E. Kaguta Museveni regarding the prioritization of ideological and mindset transformation within the CID operations. Magambo emphasized that understanding the ideological direction of the country and fostering a positive mindset among officers are crucial elements guiding CID’s activities.
CID’s efforts focus on instilling a sense of purpose and direction among officers, helping them comprehend Uganda’s trajectory, the rationale behind their duties, and strategies for continuous improvement. By aligning operations with national objectives and values, CID aims to contribute effectively to the country’s development and security objectives.
