AMOLATAR – In a significant show of force and unity, Kioga County MP aspirant and NRM flag bearer, Felix Adupa Ongwech, officially launched his 2026 election campaign on Thursday with a massive thanksgiving ceremony at his home in Odyak Parish, Muntu Sub-county.
The event, which drew hundreds of supporters, served as both a celebration of his political victories to date and a clarion call for votes, backed by a unanimous pledge of support from the NRM party grassroots leadership across Amolatar District.
The most dominant theme of the day was the resounding endorsement from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party structures. Key party officials took to the podium to declare their unwavering support for Adupa, warning against any form of dissent.
Godfrey Ayena, the Namasale Town Council LC3 Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of NRM for Amolatar District, stated unequivocally, “NRM will not support any other contenders apart from the flag bearer.” He pledged to embark on aggressive mobilization for Adupa and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
This sentiment was echoed by sub-county-level chairs. Ojok Obanange, the NRM Chairperson for Acii Sub-county, offered a personal testimony, revealing, “In the primary election, I did not vote for Adupa because we were looking for a party flag bearer. But now that Adupa is the Party flag bearer, I will support him and rally people to vote for him.”
In a powerful display of party unity, Joe Omara Makim, a former NRM flag bearer contestant who lost to Adupa, publicly pledged his allegiance. “I will support Adupa Ongwech because of party unity and I cannot go against the party,” Makim stated, setting aside past rivalries.
Kennedy Etum, the NRM General Secretary for Amolatar district, outlined the strategy, saying, “We will embark on door-to-door mobilisation for Felix Adupa Ongwech and the NRM party.”
Alfred Emong Adingi (NRM Chairperson, Amolatar Town Council) and Tonny Ojek (NRM Chairman, Namasale Sub-county) reinforced the message, promising relentless mobilization to ensure Adupa’s victory in 2026.
The campaign launch was also framed by calls for the electorate to make an informed choice and dismiss smear campaigns. Joe Otim, the Awitong (leader) of the Oumulao clan who presided over the ceremony, urged voters to be vigilant.
“Observe well the candidates, right from their home, marital status, and character before voting,” Otim advised the crowd. He then directly tasked the aspirant, asking Adupa to “remember the people of Amolatar when given an opportunity to lead Kioga County.”
Counsel Joseph Angole, the Campaign Manager for Felix Adupa Ongwech, directly addressed the rumours circulating against his candidate. He asked the people “not to be blindfolded by other contenders claiming that Adupa Ongwech is not contesting because he has no academic qualification, saying it is a smear campaign against Adupa.”
Adding to the endorsement from cultural leaders, Denish Kizza, the Secretary of All Saints University Lango and clan head of Pedicungkal, positioned Adupa as the candidate of a new generation.
“Vote for Felix Adupa Ongwech because he is a visionary leader who is capable to bring development,” Kizza said, while also pledging to offer bursaries to Amolatar students if Adupa is elected. He advised people to “vote for young generation leaders like Adupa, not old people, because they cannot now be able to bring development.”
Addressing his supporters after a triumphant procession from the Namasale ferry, Felix Adupa expressed profound gratitude to the people of Kioga County for standing by him through “numerous challenges.”
He recounted his political journey, which included being taken to the NRM tribunal to challenge his primary victory—a case that was dismissed—and later having his academic qualifications challenged at the Electoral Commission afte
