The NRM Secretariat was momentarily paralyzed today, July 2nd, as delegates from across the country stormed the headquarters in support of Hon. Kakuru Phillip, who was officially nominated for the position of National Chairman of the NRM Entrepreneurs League.
Hon. Kakuru, currently serving as Senior Presidential Advisor on Trade, has spent recent weeks traversing the country, engaging delegates and building momentum for his candidacy.
His grassroots outreach appears to have paid off, as all the delegates he met have pledged collective support for both his bid and the re-election of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the 2026–2031 term.
Delegates have hailed Hon. Kakuru’s commitment to advancing the interests of entrepreneurs, with many citing his strong leadership and vision for a more inclusive business environment. He has promised to provide a robust platform for entrepreneurs to voice their concerns on matters relating to trade and investment.
Hon. Kakuru’s nomination was met with excitement at the Secretariat. In a now-viral video, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi was seen welcoming him warmly, saying with a smile, “The lion has come.”
With rising support from the grassroots and strong confidence from the party leadership, Hon. Kakuru Phillip is emerging as a frontrunner and the preferred choice for National Chairman of the NRM Entrepreneurs League for the 2025–2030 term.
