Bobi Wine, the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Uganda’s largest opposition political party, has provided an update regarding the party’s upcoming district tour in Mukono, Masaka, and Mityana districts. The announcement comes after encountering challenges with booking venues for their events.
According to Bobi Wine, the police have cited inconvenience with the initially booked venues, including the iconic Liberation Square in Masaka City, which has historically hosted numerous political events. Despite observing other political groups using these venues, NUP’s requests were declined.
In response to these challenges, Bobi Wine and the NUP leadership have opted to adjust their plans to ensure the successful execution of their events. New venues have been secured for the district tour in Mukono, Masaka, and Mityana districts. The hope is that these adjustments will mitigate any further issues encountered with venue bookings.
The revised schedule for the NUP Nationwide Tour 2 is as follows: Mukono on Wednesday, Masaka on Friday, and Mityana on the following Tuesday. Bobi Wine concluded the announcement with the party’s slogan, “People Power, Our Power!”, reaffirming their commitment to their political agenda despite the logistical challenges faced.
