Nwoya District is demonstrating significant progress in service delivery and community empowerment. A recent meeting between the district leadership and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Secretariat, led by Major Martha Asiimwe, the RDC Secretariat Head, and her Deputy, Dr. Str. Akiror MaryGrace, highlighted key achievements.

The Uganda Irrigation for Food Security and Employment (UGIFT) small-scale irrigation program has been particularly successful, significantly boosting local agricultural initiatives.

The district’s agricultural engineer was commended for promoting effective irrigation systems, and local farmers have benefited substantially from the program, despite minor documentation challenges.

The district’s efforts in enhancing infrastructure were also acknowledged, notably the completion of road projects with a 400 million Ugandan Shilling investment.

Furthermore, the government’s ongoing support for education and health facilities was a central point of discussion, with the district making steady progress in its education and health infrastructure upgrades.

The integration of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Emyooga program has facilitated improved market access for local producers, enabling them to export tomatoes and vegetables to South Sudan.

The RDC of Nwoya and the district leadership expressed their gratitude for the government’s continued support, emphasizing its positive impact on the community.

They reaffirmed their commitment to addressing remaining challenges and ensuring sustainable development.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect in driving Nwoya’s continued progress. Dr. Str. Akiror MaryGrace and Major Martha Asiimwe both underscored the critical role of collaboration and responsibility in fostering the district’s growth.
