Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali’s Wife Passes Away

On Monday, January 8, 2023, Sarah Ali, the wife of Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali, passed away while undergoing treatment at Medipal Hospital in Kampala. The sad news was officially announced by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja in a statement dated January 8, 2023.

The cause of Sarah Ali’s death was not disclosed in Nabbanja’s statement. Alongside the announcement, the Prime Minister outlined the tentative burial arrangements for the late Sarah Ali.




A vigil was scheduled to take place at the deceased’s home in Naalya estate, along Paul Kasule Road, on Monday night. Following the vigil, Sarah Ali’s body would be transported to Adjumani for burial on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in the morning, with the final resting ceremony to occur later in the afternoon.




Gen. Moses Ali, 83, was born in Meliaderi, Atabo parish in Pakele division in Adjumani district, formerly Madi district in Northern Uganda. He has been the elected Member of Parliament for East Moyo County in Adjumani since 2011.




Condolences poured in from various quarters, including former Uganda Premier Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and his wife, who sent their condolences to Gen. Moses Ali through a social media post on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. In the post, Rugunda expressed sympathy, stating, “May the Almighty God comfort the family during these trying times. We have you in our thoughts and prayers.”
