Sad News: Top NRM Official Killed in Car Accident

Karamoja region is in mourning following the tragic death of NRM National Vice Chairperson, Hon. Simon Peter Aleper, popularly known as ASPRO.

Business activities in the Karamoja region have been paralyzed by the untimely demise of the esteemed leader.




Shockwaves reverberated through the region after news broke of Mr. Aleper’s passing on Tuesday morning. The former Member of Parliament for Moroto Municipality was involved in a fatal road accident near Iganga while en route to Kampala from Moroto.




Hon. John Baptist Lokii, Member of Parliament for Matheniko County in Moroto District, described the loss as another severe blow to the Karamoja region.




Jino Meri, the District Chairperson of Kaabong, lauded the late Aleper as an instrumental figure who was passionate about Karamoja’s development.

Simon Nangiro, an elder, expressed deep sorrow, stating that Aleper’s death was a significant loss for the entire region. He emphasized that Aleper was a respected leader who represented the interests of Karamoja as a whole, not just his home district.

At the time of writing, Aleper’s body was still at Iganga mortuary. It was scheduled to be transported to Mulago Hospital, where Karamoja MPs would receive it. The body would then undergo a post-mortem examination before being handed over to Aplus Funeral Service.
