Obongi Girl Delivers Baby Days Before PLE, School and Officials Support

Obongi RDC Commends Aliba Primary School Head Teacher for Saving the Life of a Girl Who Delivered Two Days Before PLE Exams

A P7 girl (name withheld) in Obongi District went into labor in class and was rushed to a nearby health facility by school administrators as she is expected to sit for the forthcoming PLE exams. The primary seven pupil at Aliba Primary School in Aliba Sub-county delivered a baby after experiencing labor pains during class.

Despite her condition, the pupil made the decision to continue her studies in preparation for the PLE exams. Many people expressed their appreciation to the school administration for allowing her to study while she awaited her primary leaving examination.




During a lesson, the girl (name withheld) experienced labor pains and was quickly taken by the head teacher and senior woman teacher to a nearby health facility. The senior woman teacher ensured she was transported to the health center, where she successfully delivered.




RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka and the ARDC visited Aliba Primary School, where the head teacher confirmed that one of his pupils had gone into labor during class. The RDC directed the DEO of Obongi, Mr. Patrick Angala, and the head teacher to ensure that the pupil is allowed to sit for her forthcoming PLE exams on Wednesday, November 6, and Thursday, November 7.




While speaking to our reporter this afternoon, RDC Mpimbaza Hashaka advocated for girl child education in Obongi District. One parent, who requested to remain anonymous, stated that she is preparing to mobilize well-wishers to help care for the baby while the girl focuses on her PLE exams.
