Police in Obongi have launched an investigation into the alleged embezzlement of over 126 million shillings intended for four fish ponds under the Teremo ecological fish pond project and the Teremo River Bank restoration project in Teremo village, Parolinya sub-county, Obongi district.

The Obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, directed the police investigation after receiving a complaint from the chairperson of the Teremo ecological fish pond group, Mr. Fungaroo Mansur Ayub. Mr. Fungaroo alleged that under the District Road Development and Infrastructure Program (DRDIP) in Obongi, a company called NACORPART received 87 million shillings for fish pond construction and the supply of tilapia and catfish fingerlings. However, the company is accused of embezzling part of the funds and failing to provide fish feed.

Following the RDC’s instructions, Palorinya police opened a case of embezzlement and corruption under SD Ref 11/20/02/2025.

According to RDC Samuel Mpimbaza, the amount paid to Rongum is over 6 million shillings, not 3 million as claimed by some individuals. He clarified that this money was for environmental work.

RDC Hashaka and the Officer in Charge (OC) of Palorinya Police Station, SP Lutalo, visited the project site in Teremo village.

They received further complaints that NACORPART also received over 64 million shillings for inputs that were never supplied.

The over 126 million shilling fish pond project was allegedly implemented covertly, without any ground-breaking or commissioning ceremonies.
