Obongi, Uganda – The Obongi RDC’s office has discovered a ghost project in Gimara sub-county while monitoring government projects in the district.

RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka and the ARDC Umuhoza Habiba Furaha discovered a ghost project at the Gimara sub-county headquarters in Obongi district.

The duo were monitoring government and partner-funded programs in Obongi district on Tuesday.

The Secretary for Environment and the LC3 Chairperson of Gimara sub-county, Mr. Lomo Majid, said the sub-county is surprised about the project of construction of which they have no knowledge.

RDC Hashaka told the leadership of Gimara that he would take up the matter with the CAO’s office.

When Hashaka and Habiba reached Gimara sub-county, they came across an abandoned foundation of a building which residents and some leaders in the sub-county said was abandoned several months ago.

They said several months ago, people started digging a foundation without any ground-breaking ceremony.

When asked who they were and what project it was, the men who were speaking a strange language ran away, abandoning the site and have never been seen again.

Hashaka has been praised by many people, including religious leaders, as a hard-working person when it comes to the issue of fighting corruption.
