The RDC of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka, has assured refugees in Obongi and residents that the thug who grabbed a gun from a police officer will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.

This follows an incident in which a Sudanese refugee overpowered a police woman and stole a gun from her, subsequently shooting dead a fellow refugee.

The suspect, Deng Aga alias Chol Agwek Chol, armed with the stolen gun, has been threatening to kill more people, including his wife and the LC1 Chairperson of Itipa village in Itula Sub-county.

After killing a fellow refugee, other Sudanese refugees fled the camp to Morobi police post, fearing they would be killed by the armed refugee.

RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka, accompanied by his assistant, Umuhoza Habiba Furaha, and the detachment commander, Lt. Sebbi Olega Ewafa, met with the fleeing refugees and assured them of security, emphasizing that the gunman will be apprehended, as security in Obongi is guaranteed.
