One person died and eight others were injured due to electrocution in Kamwenge District. The incident occurred on Thursday in Rwenkuna village, Kahunge Town Council.
The deceased, identified as Wilson Mwesigye from Rwenkuba Village in Kahunge Town Council, was electrocuted while erecting tents. Didas Ndizeyi, the LCI Chairperson of Rwenkuba Village, reported that a metallic pole of one of the tents made contact with a live electric wire, resulting in the fatal incident.
Among the injured was Amos Turinawe, the LCIII Chairperson of Kahunge Town Council, who were promptly transported to Rukunyu Health Centre IV for medical treatment.
This incident follows a similar tragedy last month in Mubende District, where six people lost their lives due to electrocution while setting up a tent for a wedding ceremony.
