Jesus was tested in the wilderness and his father was proud of him when he overcame. When he faced the wrath of Pilate, he called out his father for forsaking him.
Internal Affairs Minister is walking on a very delicate ground by attempting to frustrate First Son, General Muhoozi Keinerugaba’s presidential ambitions and he must very well be aware.
Otafire might be determined to keep Muhoozi out of the way for as long as he can since he knows that his relevance to the government can only be guaranteed by securing his Bush war comrade, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The former SFC commander will optimistically be racing back and forth with hope that his protective father will whip the hostile general for him as soon as possible to mitigate the damage. Whereas some people may write off Otafire as a spent force in the discussion about the future political transition of Uganda, there are genuine reasons to believe that the current crop in government from the 1986 power capturing force still enjoy a significant say in Uganda and could well have a great impact on who takes over from Museveni.
This could be partly why Museveni will most probably take his time without rashing to decide how to deal with his defiant bush war comrade. Museveni could also be wary of further being implicated as an ungrateful commander who betrayed all who worked with him to get to State House, a record that could sow further seeds of vengeance against his son in future.
Besides, most of the generals and NRM historicals the former NRA strongman has successfully gagged all this long have children and relatives they have placed in various positions of influence and persistently upsetting them could infuriate their younger ones and their allies to cause commotion that could impede Muhoozi’s peace.
As for Otafire, Museveni must be gnashing his teeth in a ” who does he think he is to challenge me” attitude. Museveni wants Muhoozi to be President of this country without any doubt.
The only controversy there is could be about when. The aging leader still wants to continue at the helm for as long as the pulse of his heart can allow but that doesn’t mean he is aware of God’s age limit rule. With that in mind, arrangements for how his work will be preserved must be in place already. Incidentally, this over ambitious son of his risks to frustrate his ” die in power” agenda by demanding the seat that has since become part of his life prematurely.
That makes Museveni desperate for allies very well aware of the English saying that ” a dying man will cluth to a serpent.” For as longer as the maverick General’s rebellious attitude towards Muhoozi plays in Museveni’s favour, there is every chance he will be allowed to have his way for now.
There is need for Museveni to confuse those calling for his retirement to see that he still commands significant loyalty and need time to align his forces with the Muhoozi prospect. When all that is done, however, the man from Rwakitura will certainly want to clear the way for his son’s seamless ascension to the Presidency.
That will likely be when he will move to prune the wings of his defiant lieutenants like Otafire. Many could be eliminated to the trash bin only for those driven by the instinct if dear life to seek refuge in exile while others could head to Luzira and Kitalya for new homes.
Everything looks true,
Even those who are looking at it like Otafire are quite because their life is not secure
