Four days of intensive entrepreneurship and business skills training concluded at Mutolere Secondary School in Nyakabande Sub-County, Kisoro District.
The training, facilitated by Enterprise Uganda and funded by the Government of Uganda, commenced on Tuesday and catered to a diverse group of individuals from across Kisoro District.
Over 1,500 trainees received certificates of completion and were encouraged to implement the knowledge gained during the sessions.
Speaking as the guest of honor at the closing ceremony, Bufumbira East Member of Parliament Dr. James Nsaba Buturo urged attendees to leverage the acquired knowledge to combat poverty. He commended Enterprise Uganda for their invaluable work and encouraged participants to embrace the techniques and guidance provided during the training.
“Enterprise Uganda is a leading organization dedicated to empowering community members to eradicate poverty. I am confident that participants have gained the necessary knowledge to do so. I encourage you to share this knowledge with others and become ambassadors of Enterprise Uganda in your communities,” Dr. Buturo emphasized.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Sebatware, Dean of Mutolere Deanery, cautioned participants to be mindful of the law of diminishing returns on land. He reminded them to maximize the productivity of available land, given the increasing population and limited land resources in Kisoro District.
“Let’s utilize our land efficiently and hold ourselves accountable for our businesses, as accountability is akin to prayer,” Fr. Sebatware advised.
Charles Aciici, Executive Director of Enterprise Uganda, charged the trainees to share their newfound knowledge with their peers in their respective villages. He emphasized that every individual, regardless of their initial capital, has the potential to start a successful business.
“We encourage you to start your own businesses and become ambassadors of this training. We will return to monitor your progress and provide further support,” Aciici stated.
Several trainees expressed their gratitude to Enterprise Uganda, the Government of Uganda, and Dr. Nsaba Buturo for the opportunity to participate in the training. They acknowledged that the acquired knowledge will empower them to improve their businesses and ultimately alleviate poverty.
