Kisoro, Uganda – Over 166 million shillings was raised in cash and pledges during the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) 2024 fundraising event for Kisoro District, held at St. Peter’s Gisoro Catholic Parish on Saturday, October 2, 2024.
During the Eucharist celebration, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese, urged the congregation to foster a sense of community by celebrating each other’s successes and supporting one another. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Mutolere deanary BAAF Committee, other stakeholders, and Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons Hillary Bisanga, who served as the chief guest.
Hon. Rose Kabagyeni, the NRM flag bearer for Kisoro District, praised the Bishop of Kabale Diocese for his efforts in promoting development and improving livelihoods in the diocese. She called upon the congregation to support her candidacy in the upcoming general elections.
Kisoro Municipality Mayor Ndyana Richard commended the congregation for their prayers and hard work. He thanked the guest of honor for his contributions to the Mutolere deanary.
Councilor Agaba James of the Southern Division, Kisoro Municipality, expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s developmental vision and requested his blessings for his own mayoral campaign.
Joseph Sebatware, dean of Mutolere deanary, acknowledged the collective efforts of Christians and priests in raising the BAAF funds. He expressed confidence in meeting the fundraising goal by January 11, 2025.
Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons Hillary Bisanga, the guest of honor, thanked the Bishop for his work in promoting agriculture, trade, education, and health. He contributed 28.6 million shillings and pledged continued support for the diocese’s goals.
The BAAF 2024 funds will be used to complete a commercial building in Kigongi Ward, Kabale Municipality.
The fundraising campaign will continue in other districts of Kabale Diocese, including Rukungiri, Kabale, Rubanda, Kanungu, and Kampala.
