Obongi, Uganda: – In a significant turn of events, more than 20 staunch supporters of the FDC from Palorinya Sub-county in Obongi district have switched allegiance to the ruling NRM party. The conversion took place during the Liberation Day celebration held in Palorinya sub-county on January 26, 2024.
The converts were formally received by Obongi district leaders, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Mr. Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka, area MP Bhoka George, district chairperson Abib Buga Khemis, and the NRM secretary-general for Obongi district, Mr. Philip Tawa.
Addressing the gathering, the Resident District Commissioner of Obongi district reflected on the transformative journey of Uganda since President Museveni Kaguta came to power in 1986. Hashaka emphasized that the NRM government has been instrumental in creating vital infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and implementing programs like UPE, marking key achievements. He urged those who switched from FDC to NRM to recognize that they are now in the right political home.
MP Bhoka George expressed gratitude to H.E President Gen. Yoweri Museveni for implementing impactful programs such as Emyooga, YLP, UWEP, and PDM. He highlighted the positive effects of these initiatives, benefiting not only the people of his constituency but also contributing to the development of West Nile and the entire nation of Uganda.
