Patrick Okidi, Obongi District – Residents of Gbolokonyo village in Waka Parish, Itula sub-county, Obongi district, now have access to clean drinking water. The Ugandan government, through the Ministry of Water, has completed construction of a piped water project in the village, benefiting over 500 residents.
A joint monitoring team, including the RDC of Obongi, Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka; the district vice chairperson, Hon. Okunzi Loius Drale; the senior CAO, Mr. Job Tabu; the production officer, Mr. Johnson Opigo; and officials from the Ministry of Water, visited the project site and declared it ready for commissioning.
The project, constructed by Nexus Green at a cost of over 340 million shillings, significantly improves water access in Itula. The water officer for Obongi district, Mr. Iranya Dominic, informed the team that the project has increased water coverage in Itula to approximately 80%.
The chairperson of LC1 Gbolokonyo expressed gratitude to the government for the project, highlighting its positive impact on the village’s development and the lives of its residents.
