Equity Bank Uganda has commended the Parliament of Uganda for the successful organisation of the 15th East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games 2025, describing the event as a strong platform for promoting regional unity beyond sport.

“The East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games are more than just competition. They bring leaders together, strengthen mutual understanding, and reinforce regional unity,” Tumwesigye said.

She noted that Equity Bank was proud to sponsor the games, emphasising that the institution remains ready to support upcoming editions in line with its regional integration agenda.

“As a regional institution, Equity Bank is committed to supporting initiatives that promote integration, inclusion, and shared growth across East Africa,” she added.

During the awards ceremony, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa received the Golden Shoe (Top Scorer) award on behalf of Hon. Denes Sekabira, who finished the tournament with three goals, all scored against Team Kenya after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The Golden Glove (Best Goalkeeper) award was also presented to Hon. Basalirwa on behalf of Hon. Linos Ngompek, whose outstanding performance saw him concede only two goals in two matches, one against Kenya and the other against Burundi.

With three football trophies in three years, Uganda’s remarkable performance was widely celebrated by fans and participants alike, as reflected in jubilant messages from Uganda Parliamentary FC and the Parliament of Uganda.

Overall, the successful hosting of the EAC Games 2025 highlighted Parliament’s growing capacity to organise major regional events, while strengthening cooperation, camaraderie, and integration among East African legislatures.
