In the unfortunate event of death, the policy provides an end-of-life benefit of up to UGX 3 million, payable to the next of kin. This makes it an accessible option for many, especially small-scale entrepreneurs and individuals facing financial challenges due to health issues.
To promote the product, Equity Bank shared an engaging post on X earlier today, featuring two individuals proudly displaying the “Oli ku Sure” slogan, which translates to “It’s Sure” in Luganda—a nod to the confidence the cover brings. The post, shared at 10:09 AM EAT, highlighted the simplicity of signing up at any Equity Duuka, the bank’s network of agent points spread across Uganda.
Equity Duukas are a key part of the bank’s mission to bring financial services closer to the people. With over 6,000 agents nationwide, customers in both urban and rural areas can easily access this insurance product. The launch builds on Equity Bank’s successful bancassurance efforts, which saw insurance premiums in Uganda rise by 25.77% from UGX 142.7 billion in 2022 to UGX 179.48 billion in 2023.
“This is a game-changer for Ugandans, especially with 15% of the population facing major financial challenges,” said a representative from Equity Bank. The product, developed in partnership with Liberty Life Assurance, allows customers to submit claims via WhatsApp for quick processing, making it convenient and efficient.
