Mathias Mpuuga, the leader of the opposition in parliament, expressed concern about the arrest, describing it as the actions of a panicked regime. He mentioned that they had planned to welcome Bobi Wine, but security personnel prevented him from even going through immigration. Mpuuga emphasized their commitment to ensuring Bobi Wine’s safety.
The NUP President’s arrest has sparked tension, leading to increased security measures around the NUP offices in Kamwokya. Access to the premises has been restricted, and staff members who came to work earlier are unable to leave. The situation remains fluid.
