President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has made it clear that none of his daughters will join active politics, despite repeated requests from local communities.

While addressing journalists after concluding his campaign tour in the Ankole sub-region, the President revealed that residents from different parts of the country have tried to persuade him to allow his daughters to take up political roles, but he has firmly declined.

Museveni noted that during one of his visits to Kisozi in Gomba, locals asked him to let his daughter Natasha Museveni come forward and represent them. According to the President, he declined the idea, explaining that his trips to Gomba are strictly personal.

“I only go to Gomba to graze my cows. I cannot bring my children into politics because people are requesting them,” he said.

He added that a similar situation happened in Ntungamo, where residents reportedly wanted Diana Kyaremera to stand and represent the women there. The President emphasized that he has no intention of pushing his daughters into political contests.

Museveni stressed that his daughters have chosen their own paths—ranging from film work to evangelism—and he prefers to let them build their lives away from the political arena. This, he said, contrasts with their brother, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who has served in the army and now holds a top role in the armed forces, with political aspirations also being associated with him.

According to the President, he sees no reason for his daughters to “fight for small positions,” insisting that public pressure will not influence how his family chooses to live or serve the country.
