In a match played on Saturday, October 7, the Uganda Women’s U20 National Football team, known as the Queen Cranes, demonstrated strong performance against Mozambique in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. The game was held at Estadio da Matola in Maputo, and the Queen Cranes won convincingly with a score of 6-0.

Agnes Nabukenya and Hadija Nandago showcased their goal-scoring abilities by each scoring two goals, while Margret Kunihira and Eve Naggayi each contributed one goal to the victory. This remarkable display of skill has put the Queen Cranes in a favorable position as they head into the second leg, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 14 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.




The primary objective of these qualifiers is to determine the four African teams that will have the opportunity to represent the continent at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia. If Uganda successfully advances past Mozambique, they will compete against the winner between Senegal and Benin in the next round, with Senegal currently leading 2-0 in that matchup. Furthermore, there is a possibility of facing Ghana in the fourth round, with the winner securing a coveted spot in the prestigious tournament.




The impressive performance by the Queen Cranes has certainly positioned them on a promising path toward international success.
