Gulu City, Uganda – Brig. Gen. Michael Kabango, the 4th Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) Infantry Division Commander, presided over the handover of 204 Anti-Air Craft (AAC) Brigade Commander, which took place yesterday 23rd April 2024 at the 4th Division Headquarters in Gulu.
Thus, Col Tom Buwembo Musoke, the outgoing, handed over to the new Brigade Commander and Lt Col Moses B Kaggwa, the incoming Brigade Commander
During the occasion, Brig Gen said the Anti Air Craft unit is very significant in any warfare in all militaries across the globe.
“Anti Air Craft is a critical component in any Tactical Military Operation”, he says during the ceremony.
He, however, implored the commanders of Anti Air Craft to record and keep Anti Air Craft’s tactical and operational history of Air Defence Unit from its onset so that later Anti Air Craft personnel will appreciate.
He further thanked the outgoing commander, Colonel Musoke for the job well-done and requested that he bring the same spirit of work and comradeship to his new place of work.
Capt. Kato Ahmad Hassan, the 4th Division Public Information Officer says Colonel Musoke has been transferred to Kakiri, Wakiso, in the Central Region, is now one of the 201 Anti Air Craft Brigade Commanders under First Division.
He adds that Lt. Col. Moses B Kaggwa, who took over as the new 204 Anti Air Craft Brigade Commander, thanked the strategic and operational UPDF leadership for entrusting him with command of the 204 Anti Air Craft Brigade.
According to Kato, Lt. Col. Kaggwa promised not to water down the achievements made by his predecessor but to keep his legacy alive.
“I will command and lead my subordinates professionally with morals so that the brigade meets the expectations of the high command,” Kaggwa said.
Kaggwa also thanked his predecessor for the good comradeship, cooperation, excellent mentorship, and parental support that he rendered to the unit during his tenure in office.
While expressing his profound gratitude to the Army leadership for giving him the opportunity to command the 204 Anti Air Craft Unit at a Brigade level, he lauded the outgoing commander for the job well done while still in office.
Col. Musoke, while speaking at the ceremony, also congratulated the incoming commander upon his new appointment as 204 Anti Air Craft Brigade Commander and further commended the army leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve Anti Air Craft Brigade command for a period of three years.
“It gives me a sense of pride and pleasure to command Anti Air Craft Brigade in the first place as the Brigade Operations and Training Officer (BOTO) from 2018 to 2020 and now Brigade Commander twice.
During the handover, instruments of power were handed over to the incoming commander, consisting of office stamps and office files, among other items and were attended by the commanding officers from the Anti Air Craft Unit Brigade, 4th Infantry Division Headquarters staff officers, and men.
