Bishop Edward Munene Set for Consecration Ceremony in Kamuli

Kamuli District grounds is set to host the consecration ceremony of Bishop Edward Munene, the spiritual leader of the Busoga Region Fellowship of Born-Again Christians. The 52-year-old, founder of the Kamuli Holy Ghost Miracle Centre and author of “The Lord is the Spirit,” is poised to assume the role of bishop in a significant event scheduled for January 20.

Bishop Munene, a dedicated pastor and a student pursuing a Theology Doctorate at Antioch University USA, holds degrees from Makerere University and the North Western Theological Seminary in Webuye, Kenya. Additionally, he brings a wealth of experience as a teacher by profession. His consecration ceremony marks a momentous occasion for the Busoga Region, symbolizing the commitment and leadership of Born-Again Christians in the area.




The consecration event is expected to draw high-profile attendees, with President Museveni anticipated as the Chief Guest. First Deputy Prime Minister and Kamuli District Woman MP, Ms. Rebecca Kadaga, will host the ceremony, adding to the significance of the occasion.




Notably, Bishop Munene will be the fourth Bishop from Kamuli district, following in the footsteps of Anglican Bishops Cyprian Bamwoze, Michael Kyomya, and Paul Naimanhye.




Addressing the media on January 19, Bishop Munene expressed his vision for the church, emphasizing a holistic approach to address issues such as poverty and conflicts within congregations.

Pastor David Balabyekubo, the Spokesperson of Busoga Region Fellowship, highlighted the region’s prophetic significance as a source of leaders, drawing a connection to the Nile, whose waters Jesus Christ is believed to have consumed during his time in Egypt. He urged church ministries to foster cohesion, bridge communication gaps, and promote unity.

Kamuli Resident District Commissioner, Ms. Rose Birungi, acknowledged Uganda as a secular state that promotes religious coherence. She called for support and the promotion of government programs, emphasizing the values of integrity and hard work in alignment with religious principles.
