Major Fraud Uncovered. Fake Degrees Lead to Firing Frenzy. Officials in Legal Trouble
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kyenjojo District has been instructed to fire 25 Parish Chiefs for using forged diploma certificates to secure their positions. The Deputy Inspector General of Government, Ms. Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, issued the order following a thorough investigation by the Inspectorate of Government’s Fort Portal Regional Office.
The CAO is also required to remove these officials from the district payroll and hand them over to the Kyenjojo District Police Commander for further investigation and potential prosecution. This move comes after the discovery that these officials had presented fake academic credentials from several universities and institutions.
In total, Kyenjojo District Local Government recruited 71 Parish Chiefs between September and October 2021. Among them, 25 were found to have used forged diplomas, in violation of Section A-c (18) of the Public Service Standing Orders, 2021.
The fake diplomas were supposedly issued by Uganda Pentecostal University, Kyambogo University, Bishop Stuart University, Mountain of the Moon University, Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development, Kampala University, Makerere University, Kampala International University, and Uganda Management Institute. However, these institutions have disowned the diplomas, confirming they have no records of the individuals involved.
