Today, Honorable Jane Bainomugisha, the Woman Member of Parliament for Ibanda district, launched the distribution of plastic cups that she acquired using funds raised during last year’s women’s day celebrations.

She distributed these cups to 607 villages, with each village receiving over 30 plastic cups. Additionally, in a related development concerning Ibanda’s political landscape, as the 2026 general election approaches, two Members of Parliament from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Ibanda engaged in a face-off during a meeting.

This website has learned that the altercation, which disrupted the Ibanda council meeting for over 30 minutes, involved Ibanda Woman MP Jane Bainomugisha and Ibanda South MP John Paul Ninkusiima. The exchange of words escalated to physical blows, resulting in an injury to Ninkusiima’s left eye. They were eventually separated by Ibanda Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and councilors.

Reports indicate that during the previous elections, John Byabagambi, a long-serving MP for Ibanda South and former state minister for Works, who was defeated by Ninkusiima, had the support of Bainomugisha. Ninkusiima’s victory reportedly angered Bainomugisha.

Additionally, it has been reported that the Ministry of Health recently distributed ambulances primarily to MPs who sit on parliament’s health committee. When ministry officials sought clarification from Bainomugisha, she indicated that Ninkusiima represents Ibanda North in Parliament, thus the ambulance should be sent to his constituency.

This action further angered Ninkusiima when he discovered that the ambulance was allocated to Xavier Akampurira Kyooma from Ibanda North. This revelation contributed to the physical altercation between the two MPs.
